Low Frequency Exciters

Elpas Low Frequency (LF) Exciters emit user adjustable, electromagnetic (125KHz) fields that are designed to cover interior or exterior doorways, gates and other limited access chokepoints. As a result, whenever an individual or asset bearing an Elpas Active RFID Tag enters the exciter's magnetic field; the mobile tag is prompted to transmit its pre-programmed data messages. These messages are detected by the Elpas RF reader infrastructure and are either locally processed or relayed over the LonTalk network to the EIRIS server machine in support of the configured Elpas tracking or security application.

LF Exciter

The Elpas Low Frequency (LF) Exciter is a supervised, short-range, UHF emitter that adds pin-point detection functionality to any Elpas safety, security or monitoring installation.

The LF Exciter is engineered to emit spherical, low-power electromagnetic fields (125 KHz) of up to 3 m (10 ft) in radius. These harmless LF fields are user-adjustable, so that they can be tuned to precisely cover most indoor doorways or entrance/exit areas. So, whenever an individual or asset bearing an Elpas active RFID tag enters the electromagnetic field generated by the exciter, the mobile tag is prompted to transmit its pre-programmed data messages (including the exciter’s Neuron ID). The messages are instantly detected by the Elpas RF reader infrastructure and are locally processed and/or relayed over the LonTalk network to the EIRIS server machine in support of the configured Elpas application.

The LF Exciter also includes an onboard UHF (433.92 MHz) transmitter, which continuously broadcasts real-time device supervision alert messages for keeping repair personnel informed of possible maintenance issues related to the device.

Architecturally attractive and unobtrusive, the Elpas LF Exciter is easily surface-mounted on solid walls and ceilings or flush-mounted into dropped (false) ceilings. The exciter is deployable as a standalone device, designed to cover normal interior single or double doorways or in a flexible master–slave configuration suitable for coverage in large, open indoor spaces

High-Power LF Exciter

The Elpas High-Power LF Exciter is a supervised, extended-range, UHF emitter that adds pin-point detection functionality to any Elpas safety, security or monitoring installation.

The High-Power LF Exciter is engineered to emit spherical, low-power electromagnetic fields (125 KHz), up to 5 m (15 ft) in radius. These harmless LF fields are user-adjustable so that they can be tuned to precisely cover most interior or exterior building exits and entrances. Consequently, whenever an individual or asset bearing an Elpas active RFID tag enters the electromagnetic field generated by the exciter, the mobile tag is prompted to transmit its pre-programmed data messages (including the exciter’s Neuron ID). The messages are instantly detected by the Elpas RF reader infrastructure and are locally processed and/or relayed over the LonTalk network to the EIRIS server machine supporting the configured Elpas application.

The exciter also includes an onboard UHF (433.92 MHz) transmitter, which continuously broadcasts real-time device supervision alert messages for keeping repair personnel informed of possible maintenance issues related to the device.

Enclosed in an architecturally attractive, IP-65 water-rated enclosure, the exciter is easily wall-, ceiling- or post- mounted. A high-power LF exciter is deployable as a single standalone device (designed to cover large interior single or double doorways) or in a flexible master–slave configuration (suitable for coverage of large, open interior or exterior spaces).

Handheld LF Exciter

The Elpas Handheld LF Exciter provides on-duty healthcare personnel with an effective, low-cost, easy-to-use tool for performing ad hoc patient/asset match and association tests, canceling nurse/patient-calls or for triggering entrance/exit monitoring applications.

The Elpas Handheld LF Exciter emits a harmless, low-power, spherical magnetic (125KHz) field whenever its large button is pressed. Thus, whenever a staff member presses the exciter’s button within a 0–30 cm (0–11.8 inches)* radius of a patient/asset bearing an Elpas active RFID tag, the exciter will trigger the mobile tag to immediately transmit data messages. The data is instantly detected, interpreted and relayed by the Elpas RF reader infrastructure to the host computer supporting the medical application.

Typically worn as a pendant with a neck lanyard, the Elpas Handheld LF Exciter is enclosed in a shower-proof, IP-64 water-rated black ABS outer housing. Powered by a single, commercially-available lithium battery (CR-2430 or equivalent), the device provides approximately three years of service before needing battery replacement. The exciter is shipped with a pre-attached neck lanyard and one lithium battery.
